TVS Chooses Calrec Brio36 Audio Mixer by JAA Systems

MALAYSIA:

JAA Systems has successfully supplied, installed, and commissioned a Calrec Brio36 broadcast audio mixer for the news studio of TV Sarawak (TVS), a key part of the Sarawak Media Group. TVS, owned by the state of Sarawak, is a new linear TV channel that provides news and programming both from the state and other parts of Malaysia. With nationwide availability via the Astro platform and Digital TV’s myFreeview, TVS plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality content to viewers across Malaysia.

At the end of 2020, TVS released a tender for a digital audio broadcast mixer. JAA Systems was invited to participate in the bidding process by the main systems integrator, Ideal Systems, and proposed the Calrec Brio36 as the ideal solution for TVS’s requirements. After a thorough evaluation, the Brio36 was chosen for its advanced features, which include a compact size, 36 dual-layer faders, loudness metering, AutoFader/AutoMixer, up to five seconds of delay on each signal path, and exceptional audio quality.

The installation process saw JAA Systems delivering a comprehensive solution that included not only the Calrec Brio36 mixer but also a Dante card and a Br.IO stagebox. The Brio36 mixer has been seamlessly integrated into TVS’s production control room, while the Br.IO stagebox has been strategically positioned on the news studio floor. The Dante card plays a vital role in linking the Brio36 to another existing live sound mixer, enhancing the overall audio workflow and connectivity within the studio.

Mohd Helmy Ibrahim, head of broadcast engineering and studio operations at TVS, expressed satisfaction with the choice of the Calrec Brio36 mixer. “We are happy with the decision to choose Calrec’s Brio36 mixer,” he said. “The audio mixer suits us well and the workflow is straightforward. It is a simple, user-friendly broadcast audio desk with a very reasonable price tag.”

David Chan, Director of JAA Systems, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the Brio36’s popularity among broadcasters in Malaysia. “We are glad to have another broadcaster in Malaysia choose the Calrec Brio36 as their broadcast audio mixer,” said Chan. “The fact that the Brio36 mixer is so popular is a real testament to the fact that it’s well-designed for live broadcast and production applications. It is a great compact mixer that is flexible, powerful, and user-friendly. A big thank you to TVS for choosing the Calrec Brio36 mixer.”

The Calrec Brio36’s successful installation at TV Sarawak underscores its growing reputation as a top choice for live broadcast and production applications. Designed to meet the demanding needs of modern broadcasters, the Brio36 combines versatility, power, and ease of use, making it an ideal solution for news studios and other live production environments. Its compact design and feature-rich capabilities ensure that broadcasters like TVS can deliver high-quality audio consistently, even in challenging conditions.

This collaboration between JAA Systems and TV Sarawak highlights the importance of choosing the right audio technology for broadcast operations. As more broadcasters in Malaysia and beyond turn to solutions like the Calrec Brio36, the role of reliable partners like JAA Systems becomes increasingly vital. Their expertise in providing tailored audio solutions, backed by excellent service and support, ensures that broadcasters can continue to operate at the highest standards.

For broadcasters seeking a robust and user-friendly audio mixer, the Calrec Brio36 offers a compelling option. Its ability to integrate seamlessly into existing systems, combined with its powerful features, makes it a valuable addition to any broadcast studio.
