AlHijrah TV station installs Calrec Brio36

AlHijrah TV, Malaysia’s first Islamic television channel, has successfully upgraded the audio system in its Audio Control Room (ACR) with the installation of a Calrec Brio36 digital broadcast audio mixer and Calrec Br.IO stagebox. The new system, which was supplied by JAA Systems Sdn Bhd, marks a significant enhancement in the station’s audio capabilities. The upgrade, initially delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was finally commissioned in early July.
The project was not without its challenges, particularly due to the unprecedented circumstances brought on by the global pandemic. David Chan, Director of JAA Systems, shared insights into the difficulties faced during the installation process. “This project, though small, was challenging due to the unprecedented global pandemic,” Chan explained. “We had to stop work when the Malaysian government declared a Movement Control Order (MCO) in mid-March. We were able to start work again about three months later during the Recovery MCO (RMCO) but with strict health policies and working procedures. To minimize possible infection, we had to work in complete face masks with strict hygienic measures at the site and work late at night when there were few people around. With our professional and resourceful team, combined with the straightforward installation of the Calrec Brio36 mixer, we were able to complete the whole project successfully without any issues or downtime.”
The decision to upgrade was driven by the need to replace an outdated 10-year-old mixer that could no longer meet the growing demands of modern broadcasting. Hafizal Ariffin, Head of the Engineering Division at AlHijrah TV, expressed his satisfaction with the new system. “It was time for us to replace our 10-year-old, outdated mixer, and we found the Calrec Brio36 suited us the best,” Ariffin stated. “It has everything that you need in the broadcast environment: great features, ease of use, and superb audio quality. Thanks to David Chan and the team at JAA Systems for the wonderful installation work, even during this difficult time.”
