MALAYSIA:
Le Tour de Langkawi is an annual multiple stage bicycle race that takes place in Malaysia and is broadcast live to viewers across the globe. For the 2020 edition, LTdL2020, the organiser of the event, teamed up with JAA Systems, which supplied and installed a Calrec Brio36 digital audio mixer inside the event’s OB van. Medialab Alliance was chosen as the consultant and systems integrator for the event.
The Calrec Brio36 audio mixer was selected as the centerpiece for a recent broadcast project due to its robust broadcast features, exceptional audio quality, compact design, and expandability. The choice of this particular mixer was made after a thorough evaluation process to meet the stringent requirements of the project. Ts Azhar Abdul Latiff, Director of Medialab Alliance, elaborated on the decision-making process: “When we chose the main equipment, we had very strict requirements. We were looking for a good mixer that could provide and complement the 4K services. After going through various levels to identify the right digital audio mixer, the Calrec Brio36 audio mixer stood out the most. It is a dedicated broadcast audio mixer with excellent audio quality. The mixer provides the option to expand the number of I/Os via the Hydra2 audio network or to insert cards such as Dante, MADI, or SDI. It worked perfectly throughout the race, and we were impressed with its robustness. We were also happy with the JAA Systems team for their strong support.”
The Calrec Brio36’s ability to meet the high standards required for a project of this caliber made it an ideal choice. Its compact form factor was especially beneficial for installations where space is at a premium, and its expandability ensures that it can adapt to future needs. The inclusion of the Hydra2 audio network, as well as the option to insert additional cards like Dante, MADI, or SDI, provides flexibility and scalability that are essential in today’s dynamic broadcast environments.
David Chan, Director of JAA Systems, shared his experience of the installation process, emphasizing the urgency and efficiency required for the job. “We were honored to supply and install the Calrec Brio36 audio mixer for LTdL2020 at the prestigious international cycling event,” Chan said. “It was a rushed job as we had to supply and install it within half a day! As the Brio36 mixer is compact and user-friendly, it made the whole process quick and easy.”
The successful installation of the Calrec Brio36 at LTdL2020 is a testament to the mixer’s reliability and the expertise of JAA Systems. Despite the tight timeline, the project was completed seamlessly, ensuring that the event’s broadcast was delivered with the highest quality audio. The combination of the Brio36’s features and the strong support from JAA Systems underscores why this mixer is a top choice for broadcasters looking to meet the demands of modern productions.
