Media Prima Audio Implements Remote Monitoring and Control (RMC) with JAA Systems

MALAYSIA:

Media Prima Audio, one of Malaysia’s largest radio broadcasters, has partnered with JAA Systems to deploy an advanced Remote Monitoring and Control (RMC) solution across its operations. This innovative system enables remote management, monitoring, diagnostics, and direct control of essential audio equipment from any location, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and reliability.

Representing five prominent broadcast brands—Hot FM, Buletin FM, Molek FM, Fly FM, and 8 FM—along with the Audio+ app, Media Prima Audio reaches a wide and diverse audience. To maintain seamless broadcasting across these platforms, the implementation of the RMC system was crucial.

The RMC system is designed to notify, monitor, and control audio systems in real-time, providing critical insights into the status of the Control Room’s audio infrastructure. This is facilitated through a user-friendly smartphone or web-based app, ensuring that engineers can manage studio operations from anywhere, at any time. The heart of this system is Davicom’s Cortex, serving as the central brain, while Inovonics 635 offers robust audio monitoring capabilities. Additionally, BDi integrates audio switching and sensor functions, creating a comprehensive solution for studio management.

The introduction of this RMC system marks a significant upgrade in Media Prima Audio’s operational capabilities. By allowing remote access and control, the system effectively addresses the challenges posed by limited manpower within the engineering department. The need for on-site presence is greatly reduced, as the team can now troubleshoot and resolve issues remotely, ensuring uninterrupted service and minimizing downtime.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us many things, including the need for remote work. During the lockdown, many of us faced difficulties accessing studios and monitoring the health of audio systems directly,” said Ivan Loh, head of engineering at Media Prima Audio. “With this Remote Monitoring and Control (RMC) solution, productivity is significantly increased. The ability to oversee the radio studio facility from any remote location is a game-changer. It’s a great concept that has revolutionized how we manage our operations.”

David Chan, Managing Director of JAA Systems, highlighted the value of the RMC system for broadcasters: “The Remote Monitoring and Control (RMC) system is an inexpensive yet powerful solution that offers tremendous benefits. It is designed to address situations where technical issues arise in the studio, with real-time data allowing for quick decision-making and problem-solving, often remotely. This not only saves time but also enhances the overall efficiency of the broadcasting operations.”

With the RMC system in place, Media Prima Audio is now better equipped to manage its studio facilities remotely, ensuring consistent and high-quality broadcasting. The integration of this technology reflects the company’s commitment to embracing innovative solutions that future-proof its operations against any unforeseen challenges, making it a leader in the Malaysian broadcasting landscape.

This strategic partnership between Media Prima Audio and JAA Systems underscores the growing importance of remote technologies in modern broadcasting, particularly in ensuring operational resilience and continuity. The successful deployment of the RMC system sets a new standard for radio broadcasting in Malaysia, paving the way for other broadcasters to follow suit.
